Remembering The Pulman Brothers Lost In The Great War
On Saturday 29th April at 12:30pm, Lister Lane Cemetery will be hosting a Spring Open Day, commemorating those lost in the Great War, including tours starting at 1:00pm.
Lister Lane Cemetery is the final resting place of multiple generations of the Pulman family, including our company’s founder Abram Pulman (1794-1863).The Pulman family lost two men during The Great War – brothers Cuthbert and John Edgar Pulman, who were great-grandsons of Abram Pulman.
While their bodies were never found, Cuthbert and John Edgar Pulman’s names are commemorated on gravestones in Lister Lane Cemetery, and are adorned with Great War crosses which can be viewed during the Spring Open Day event.
A Pulman family headstone listing four generations of Pulmans that had sadly fallen on its face was re-erected last year thanks to a local stonemason we commissioned in an effort to honour the founding family of Pulman Steel.
We encourage you all to join us in visiting Lister Lane Cemetery on Saturday April 29th for the Spring Open Day to commemorate those who gave their lives in the Great War.
